Veteran batsman Younis Khan will be back in action in the 2nd Test against West Indies. Younis missed out on playing in the first ever day-night Test in Asia. The middle-order batsman was ruled out of the first Test following health issues. He was diagnosed positive for dengue and was advised rest. He underwent the treatment for at Karachi. Khan is now all set to make a comeback to the Test team.

The illness forced him to not only miss the first Test at Dubai against West Indies but also ruled him out of domestic fixtures. He was supposed to play in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in Pakistan but had to miss it. Now being declared fit to take the field, the veteran batsman will hope to make his presence count in the eleven.

Prior to this, the last time when Younis Khan had missed a Test match for Pakistan was way back in 2011. It was an injury that had ruled him out then. Ever since making his comeback, he has played in 41 successive Tests for the Pakistan team. During this phase, he has emerged as a juggernaut for the team in the middle-order. He has scored 3839 runs in those 41 matches at an average just under 60.

He is the leading run scorer for Pakistan in Test cricket. He has 9456 runs to his name in 108 matches at an average of 53.72 and a top score of 313. He has 32 Test centuries to his name. However, his return will make it difficult for the team management to get their combinations right. Babar Azam made his Test debut in his absence. He scored a fifty in his debut innings and had earlier struck 3 consecutive centuries in the ODIs.
