Pakistan veteran cricketer Younis Khan became the latest recipient of the prestigious MCC Honorary Life Membership, following the footsteps of former Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq.

Younis Khan is the second Pakistani cricketer to become an honorary life member after Misbah-ul-Haq this year. Younis had been a mainstay in batting for a number of years representing Pakistan with over 10,000 runs scored in the longest format of the game.

A servant of the country:

The right-handed batsman has represented his country in over 118 Test matches, 265 ODI’s and also went on to feature in over 25 T20 International for the country since making his debut in 2000.

Younis Khan is responsible for steadying the rollicking boat of Pakistan middle order due to its weakening during its transitional phase in the recent years along with fellow stalwart Misbah-ul-Haq. The 39-year old is also the only Pakistani batsman to reach the 10K club in Tests.

Younis announced his retirement in 2017, with his comrade and skipper Misbah-ul-Haq in one of the most romantic farewells during the West Indies tour. The prolific duo had been a constant feature in Pakistan‘s rise to the No.1 spot in the Test rankings.

The pair made Pakistan invincible at their adopted home ground in UAE, thereby, making it their fortress. So much so that, they remained undefeated in the last 9 home series they featured.

Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) awarded honorary life membership to hundreds of cricketers and individuals, both men and women, associated with the game of cricket. While receiving the accolade, the middle-order batsman became the 34th Pakistani cricketer to receive this honour.

The last two Pakistani cricketers who received this honour before Misbah and Younis were Ramiz Raja, in the year 2015, and Javed Miandad, who received the honour early in the decade in 2006.
