Younis Khan hospitalized due to high fever

Pakistan’s veteran batsman Younis Khan has been hospitalized due to high fever. The 38-year-old was hospitalised in a local hospital in Karachi today after his health got worse due to dehydration and high temperature. The medical report shows low count of white blood cells and the doctors have therefore advised him I week of best rest.
The illness forced him to miss the ceremony where Pakistan skipper Misbah ul Haq was handed over the Test mace by ICC Chief Executive Officer Dave Richardson. Pakistan reached the top of the Test ranking after leveling the series 2-2 against England in England.
Younis Khan played a pivotal role Pakistan jump to the top. The right-hander hit a memorable double century in the last Test of the four-match series to help Pakistan win the game and level the series after having trailed England 1-2.
Younis, who debuted in the year 2000, has been a mainstay in Pakistan’s middle-order for over a decade. He has, however, retired from the shorter formats but continued to be a mainstay in the Test format and has amassed 9456 runs in 108 Tests, closing in towards the historic 10000 mark.
The veteran had surpassed Javed Miandad’s run-tally of 8832 runs in October 2015 to become the country’s top run-getter in Tests. He will also be part of Test squad against West Indies in Dubai. Pakistan is scheduled to play three T20Is, three ODIs and three Tests against West Indies in UAE.
The first of those Tests, at the Dubai Cricket Stadium from 13-17 October will be played in the day-night format using a pink ball.
