Cricket aficionados can catch the fast-paced action and the nerve-wracking excitement of the upcoming tri-nation series, Hero Nidahas Trophy 2018, between Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka on YuppTV, the world’s leading OTT brand for South Asian content. The T20 matches will be held in Colombo, between March 6th and March 18th. All the matches will be exclusively available on YuppTV in the USA, Canada, Middle East and North Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, United Kingdom and Europe.
The tri-series tournament, played in celebration of Sri Lanka’s 70th year of independence, will open with India taking on Sri Lanka in the opening match. The tournament will follow a round robin format, with all three teams playing each other twice, and the top two teams progressing to the final on March 18th.
The Men in Blue will be without their main players for this series as Rohit Sharma will lead the relatively young squad. While Shikhar Dhawan has been named the deputy to him, the likes of Deepak Hooda, Washington Sundar Mohammad Siraj and Rishabh Pant have to step up. Suresh Raina retained his place for the series and he will be key to India’s fortunes during the tournament. The bowling attack will be led by Jaydev Unadkat who made his comeback to international cricket only late last year.
Sri Lanka will be once again without their regular skipper Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal will lead the side in his absence. The first choice Niroshan Dickwella has been dropped from the squad following his poor returns in the limited overs format. Suranga Lakmal is appointed the vice-captain of the side and he will also be the leader of the bowling line-up. Kusal Perera will take over the job behind the stumps from Dickwella and Kusal Mendis has managed to retain his place after his couple of blistering performances against Bangladesh.
Bangladesh are bolstered with the return of their captain and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. They have all the experience to beat their opponents in the tri-series with Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim needing to perform consistently on the given day. While the 19-year-old Nazmul Islam has impressed in his brief outings with the ball, Taskin Ahmed has returned to the team given his ability to bowl with pace. Mustafizur Rahman will continue to remain X-factor for his team and will be key to their success in the tournament.
