During the IPL retention and auctions 2018, several decisions shocked the fans. Kolkata Knight Riders, for example, didn’t retain Umesh Yadav, who was sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore and has performed well so far. Similarly, KL Rahul and Chris Gayle weren’t retained by RCB, both of whom went to Kings XI Punjab and are performing exceeding well. Gayle, in particular, is defying age and myth surrounding his waning power and is back to the form of his life.
The swashbuckling batsman scored a 63-ball 104 in Punjab’s previous game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. His 21st T20 hundred propelled KXIP to 193 for 3 in 20 overs and they restricted SunRisers to 178 for 4. Not many had given him a chance before the IPL, but the batsman proved one and all why he is the Universal Boss.
Yuvraj danced to steps similar to ‘Gangnam Style’
Punjab’s players Gayle a standing ovation to Gayle following his sixth IPL century but Yuvraj Singh, in particular, seemed more happy for the West Indian’s knock. Possibly because Yuvraj too has seen tough patches and would best know what it feels like to make such a grand comeback.
The southpaw broke into the famous ‘Gangnam Style’ dance done by South Korean pop star Psy. Gayle and the West Indies team had also danced to ‘Gangnam’ after their 74-run win over Australia in the World Twenty20 semi-finals in 2012.
The next assignment for Gayle will be two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders, for whom he played in the first two editions of the tournament. Kings XI and KKR will see each other at Eden Gardens tomorrow (April 21). Historically, Gayle has performed well against KKR at the Kolkata stadium.

While KKR are currently on top of the points table, the Kings XI Punjab are not too far behind on no. 3. With players like Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Dinesh Karthik, Gayle and KL Rahul, one can expect another blinder of an IPL encounter.
