Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh recently got married to Bollywood actor Hazel Keech at the Dera Sahib Gurudwara and visited the deras of Baba Ram Singh Ghanduan Wala which is attached to the gurudwara. It is learnt that both Yuvraj and his mother Shabnam are his devotee and don’t take a decision without consulting him. During the marriage ceremony, Hazel’s name was changed to Gurbasant Kaur on the suggestion of their guru Baba Ram Singh.

Though she accepted the name as per reports but Yuvraj’s father Yograj Singh wasn’t quite impressed with the change of name and stated that a change of name doesn’t bring a change in fortunes. Hitting out at the Guru’s steps Yograj said that the suggestions were “nonsensical talks by self-styled Babas” and that he doesn’t take them seriously. He further went on to add that for him his daughter in law’s name will always be Mrs. Hazel Yuvraj Singh and the new name won’t change her identity.

“Yuvraj’s mother and our other family members had attended the wedding. I didn’t attend Yuvraj’s wedding because I don’t believe in this talk of Baba,” Yograj said discussing the reason for his absence at the wedding.

Yograj Singh has once again come up with surprising comments after a few days of his son’s marriage. Speaking to Dainik Bhaskar, Yograj Singh said, “I am surprised to see that literate people are running after these saints who look after deras. I should not speak of others, as my own family is involved in it. I taught Yuvraj how to play cricket for 16 years. He hasn’t ever given me a kurta and he has given several cars in the dera.”

“I want to ask whether the baba has taught him how to play cricket? Did he cure his cancer? Yuvraj says he has been able to get back to playing because of his blessings,” concluded Yograj.

Yograj who was himself a cricketer played a solitary Test for India. Besides that he is well known as an actor and is popularly remembered as Milkha Singh’s coach in the Bollywood blockbuster ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’.
