Hosts Delhi Daredevils put up a valiant display of batting at the Feroz Shah Kotla to bring an end to their dismal 5 match losing streak. The men in red and blue overcame the in form Sunrisers Hyderabad leaving a gutsy knock from Yuvraj Singh on the losing side. The left-handed all-rounder was not enjoying the best of time with the bat for the Sunrisers after he kicked off this year’s tournament in style scoring a quick fire 27 ball 62 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the season opener.

The Delhi batting line-up contributed equally to earn themselves the win with Corey Anderson finishing the match with some power hitting towards the end. However, despite the loss, the orange army had a positive to take back from the encounter – and that is Yuvraj Singh’s form. With the tournament slowly crawling towards the playoffs the big guy’s return to form is something the fans were waiting for.

Considering the fact that skipper David Warner is in red hot form, Yuvraj Singh getting his rhythm back is like the icing on the cake. The Punjab boy scored a much important 40 ball 71 to take his team to a respected total of 185 when the others failed to perform.

“It was important for me to get some runs,” said Yuvraj of his innings that helped Sunrisers Hyderabad score 185/3 against Delhi Daredevils. “In the last three to four innings, I did not get enough time in the middle. When we were batting in the first innings, it was a bit tough as the ball was gripping. So, I thought of playing till the last and went for the big shots after the 16th over.” said a satisfied Yuvraj Singh.

The 35-year-old also mentioned that he was fortunate enough to get a second chance in the match when he was dropped by Sanju Samson in the middle of his innings with 29 runs to his name. “I was lucky, I got dropped. I could cash in on it in the later overs,” said Yuvi.

“I think we gave a lot of runs in the first six overs. The dropped catch (of Karun Nair) was crucial. If we could have taken early wickets, would have been key. It wasn’t a great start by our bowlers and we did not picked wickets in the middle. All of their guys got 30-40 runs,” he said.

Sunrisers went into the match with a strong bowling attack which saw purple cap holder Bhuvneshwar Kumar leading the attack with Siddharth Kaul and Mohammad Siraj backing him up. But Yuvraj felt that the experience of senior quickie Ashish Nehra might have worked as a plus point for them in the match.

“We have been relying a lot on Bhuvi and Rashid (Khan). When Ashish (Nehra) is fully fit, it will make our bowling line up a lot more stronger. Mohammed Siraj is a young guy while it has been a huge learning curve for Siddharth Kaul. Both have been bowling well,” he said.
