It was recently reported that Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh may get in legal troubles with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The CBI is preparing a list of cricketers and film personalities who received gifts from the Pearls Group, the company charged with alleged fraud of Rs 45,000 crore. The allegedly received plots as gifts in Mohali were seized by CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on January 14.

Yuvraj Singh has come on his social media account, Twitter, to clarify about the scam on them stating: “Just to clarify about a baseless and irresponsible report from a certain section of the media on me and Harbhajan. Pearl group informed us to gift a plot as part of world cup winning team in 2011. However, we have not received that plot. We have no other involvement.”

On January 9, the managing director of Pearls Group Nirmal Singh Bhangoo and three others were arrested by the federal investigative agency, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The four have been accused of duping unsuspecting investors. It is reported that some 55 million investors who joined the massive scheme have been duped. The fraud is perhaps the biggest financial scam in India.

Yuvraj’s mother, Shabnam Singh spoke to India Today and mentioned her family was not involved in the scam, “Pearl Group informed us to gift a plot as part of World Cup winning team in 2011. However, we have not received that plot. We have no other involvement whatsoever with Pearl Group.” Pearl Group has long been associated with the game of cricket. They had signed former Australia pacer Brett Lee as their brand ambassador. The group was one of the main sponsors for an Indian Premier League (IPL) group in the past and also sponsored West Indies vs India series in the year 2011.
