Veteran Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh is hitting his straps hard in the domestic circuit at the moment. He is striving to make a comeback to the Indian team again. Over the years, ever since his debut back in the 1999-2000 season, Yuvraj has played under various captains. Recently, he was asked how it feels to play under a captain who is much younger in age.

This was in reference to Yuvraj playing under the captaincy of Virat Kohli in the recent times. Answering the question, Yuvraj Singh mentioned that Virat is very different from MS Dhoni as a captain. While Dhoni was calm, Virat is aggressive by nature. He further noted that MS Dhoni had a very set team at his disposal. On the contrary, the team has transformed under the captaincy of Virat Kohli.

“Obviously, he’s very different from MSD, who is calm and composed. Virat is a bit aggressive. The results have shown that he is doing very well as captain. It’s a different generation too. MSD had very experienced players, match-winners. It was a very set team when he got the captaincy. The team has transformed under Virat,” Yuvraj Singh quoted as per the quotes in Sportstarlive.

“Being so fit himself, he emphasises on fitness. The players now are much fitter than the previous generation because the game too has become more demanding. Virat is taking the team in the right direction with his fitness and diet discipline, keeping in mind the 2019 World Cup,” he added further.

Post-retirement plans

Yuvraj Singh, who feels that still a lot of cricket is left in him, was asked to reveal his post-retirement plans. Yuvraj ruled out being a commentator citing it as not the best suited option for him. He remarked that he would want to work for the cancer patients and cancer survivors with his organization YouWeCan. Also, he is keen on helping the underprivileged kids. He would want to take up coaching for them and imbibe a sports culture in them.

“Commentating is not my forte. Cancer (YouWeCan Foundation) is going to be my area of work in the future. I love supporting young kids, I like interacting with the younger generation. Coaching is in my mind. I would identify underprivileged kids and focus on their sport and education. Education is as important as sport. You need to focus on both. Sport should not come at the cost of education,” Yuvraj remarked.
