Virat Kohli and his men have done exceedingly well over the past couple of years. The men in blue are pouncing on the oppositions like never before and winning titles after titles. The team can no longer be termed as home bullies. They did very well in their tour to South Africa and were expected to put up a strong performance in England. After bagging the T20 series 2-1, England was excepted to come back stronger for the ODI format.

Post-2015 World Cup, England has been one of the better teams in the ODI format. Eoin Morgan has transformed the team and had led his side to the top of world rankings. The first ODI was played at Trent Bridge where England had demolished Australia a few weeks ago by scoring 481.

The Englishmen didn’t play Kuldeep well in the T20 series and needed to find a way to read the chinaman. The home side faltered again as Kuldeep’s six-for restricted England to a paltry 268. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit raced off to an enthralling start while skipper Kohli played a fine knock to take his side over the line.

Gabbar dealing in boundaries

Shikhar Dhawan who scored 40 off just 27 deliveries, shared a picture with centurion Rohit Sharma and spinner Yuzvendra Chahal after the win. He committed a blunder by not tagging Chahal in the picture. Dhawan’s goof up provided an opportunity for Yuvraj Singh to take a dig at Gabbar. Yuvraj wrote: “Jatt ji this is not kuldeep this is Yuzi.” The Indian opener responded to Yuvraj by saying he is going to add Chahal also. This conversation ended by Chahal expressing his love for Shikhar Dhawan.

The teams have just a day’s rest before squaring off in the second ODI at Lord’s. India will be eying another series victory while England will look to take the series into the final ODI. Morgan and his men need to find a way to stop Kuldeep and will also be hoping that the pitch provides some assistance to the fast bowlers.
