Mohammed Shami’s impressive comeback to the One-Day Internationals continued on Monday as he starred with the ball in India’s thumping seven-wicket win over New Zealand in the third ODI. Shami, who recently became the quickest Indian bowler to pick 100 ODI wickets, returned with 3 for 41 to bag the Man of the Match award. In doing so, he became the first Indian bowler to win two Man of the Match awards in New Zealand, having won the award in the first game as well. With that he also got a chance to appear on Yuzvendra Chahal’s Chahal TV.

Prior to the ongoing series, Shami had impressed in Australia too, picking up 5 wickets as India won their first-ever bilateral series on the Australian soil. He gave India a perfect start by dismissing the dangerous Colin Munro. The pacer later dismissed a well-set Ross Taylor (93) before accounting for Ish Sodhi to help the tourists bowl out the hosts for just 243.

In reply, vice-captain Rohit Sharma and captain Virat Kohli scored half-centuries and stitched a century stand for the second wicket to help India outclass New Zealand by seven wickets. Ambati Rayudu was unbeaten on 40 and wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik on 38 as India chased down the target with seven overs to spare.

With the win, India registered only their second ODI series win in New Zealand. They had last won a series in 2009 before losing the previous assignment 4-0 in 2014.

Chahal spills the bean:

Keeping up with the recent trend, Shami appeared on Chahal TV after his match-winning display. After every game, Yuzvendra Chahal has been interviewing his teammates, asking them about their performances, game plans and much more. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli have already appeared on the show. The episodes were very well received by the fans and the latest one featuring Shami was not an exception either.

Shami opened up about the atmosphere in the Indian dressing room and bowling in tandem with Bhuvneshwar Kumar. But amidst all this, Chahal might have revealed Shami’s nickname. While speaking to the pacer, the leg-spinner referred to him as “Lalaji”.

Here’s the entire video where Shami featured on Chahal TV after his starring performance at Bay Oval.
