Yuzvendra Chahal is one of the best spinners you would see going around in international cricket. He has been a member of the Indian team for the past few years in the limited-overs format and done exceedingly well. However, there is one thing which the leg-spinner can’t really boost off. That is his batting efforts. In 94 international matches, the Haryana player has batted only on 13 occasions.

On Tuesday, Chahal’s IPL franchise, Royal Challengers Bangalore found out that the bowler had once pulled off a great batting performance. In the 2008/09 Cooch Behar Trophy, the right-handed batter had apparently scored 281 runs. The tournament is a first-class tournament among the U19 teams of the domestic side. The 29-year-old played for Haryana U19 in that tournament.

In fact, during one of the matches in the tournament, the RCB bowler scored 135 and 46 against Himachal Pradesh U19s in Bengaluru. For a tailender like Yuzi, this is nothing short of an achievement. The IPL franchise decided to post this stat on their official social media pages, on Twitter and Instagram. The franchise also asked the leggie if he wants to bat up the order now.

Kohli says it must have been an exhibition match

“DID YOU KNOW: @yuzi_chahal scored 135 & 46 in the first & second innings respectively vs Himachal Pradesh U19s in the 2008/09 Cooch Behar Trophy in Bengaluru! He scored a total of 281 runs in the tournament! Fancy playing up the order, Yuzi?” the caption of the post read.

Chahal later commented, “Kohli, scared for losing your no.3 spot bhaiya?”. After seeing this post on Instagram, RCB skipper Virat Kohli posted a hilarious comment to troll the right-arm bowler. The Indian captain has previously joked about Chahal’s batting skills as well. This time, he posted a comment on the post saying it might have been an exhibition match. He added a laughing emoticon at the end of the comment as well.
