Asian Bradman Abbas
Zaheer Abbas was fondly known as the Asian Bradman during his 16-year long illustrious career. He served Pakistan cricket in 78 Test matches and 62 ODIs and went on to amass close to 8,000 runs in the international arena. He was praised by many cricketing greats during his career as there wasn’t any touch of arrogance in his batting. He ended his career with 19 international tons to his name (12 in Tests and 7 in ODIs) and was untouched in the Asian conditions.
His first-class and List A make him even more legendary cricketers as Zaheer took the field in a whopping 459 long format matches scoring 34843 runs at a brilliant average of 51.54. In the 323 List-A games, the flamboyant batsman smashed bowlers to muster 11240 runs with 19 three-figure scores. The amazing thing about his career was the number of centuries the right-hander scored during his first-class appearances. He raised his bat to the crowd 108 times after reaching his century which is by no means a joke.
