We all remember Yuvraj Singh in his heydays, the guardian of the point region, who’d dive and skid to pluck balls out of thin air. Furthermore, his rocket arm caught many a batsman short of his crease. Yuvraj was one of India’s best fielders during a phase of Indian cricket when fielding wasn’t its forte.

However, Yuvi is currently part of a team that includes the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina. To be honest, his fielding has been eclipsed by the new kids on the block. Yuvraj’s fielding standards have also dropped considerably since he battled cancer and made a hard-fought comeback to the Indian Cricket Team.

Yuvi was in action during India’s virtual quarter-final against South Africa at The Oval in the ICC Champions Trophy, but his fielding was not near top-notch. The big left-hander was rather ordinary in the field. His lapses were however negligible as India went on to defeat the Proteas convincingly by 8 wickets.

Zaheer Khan pokes fun at Yuvi

Former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan hence took the opportunity to poke fun at his ex-teammate, Yuvraj Singh. Zaheer, who despite being known for his vicious bowling, wasn’t the best of fielders in the Indian squad, tweeted, “I am tweeting like you @YUVSTRONG12 but why are you fielding like me ??? Hahaha”

Zaheer had earlier tweeted during the nail-biting game between Sri Lanka and Pakistan. “62 needed of 90 with 3 wkts in hand , very interesting to see how it finishes from here … #SLvPAK.” he’d shared. In reply, Yuvraj extended a ‘hello’ in typical Punjabi style, saying, “Oh tu bade tweet kar reha aj kal ki gal ?”

The exchange was all in good humour, and both shared a laugh. The two cricketers will be pleased to see their team play against Bangladesh, and Yuvraj, in particular, will certainly have a big role to play in the semi-final. They take on the Tigers on June 15 at Edgbaston.
