Zaheer Khan tips Team India for the pace bowling attack in the 1st Test

As the Adelaide Test commences, Team India has a great chance of rewriting history. Having never won a Test series down under, the Indian team would be looking forward to making amends from their previous tours. The last time India won a Test match in Australia was a decade ago at Perth in 2008. There are a lot of expectations from the Indian pacers to once again deliver on an overseas tour.

The Indian bowling attack that they have landed with looks in the best possible shape. Former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan stated that the Indian bowlers were at par with their Australian counterparts. He also shared his perspective on what the combination should be like as the No.1 ranked team prepares for the first encounter.

No Bhuvi and Ishant in Zaheer’s attack

Zaheer isn’t very keen on picking the veteran Ishant Sharma in his line-up. The tall pacer was India’s highest wicket-taker in England with 18 wickets at an average of 24.28. While Zaheer admired Ishant’s has improved in recent years, he would Umesh Yadav to take his place.

“I think Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami should play in the first Test. No doubt we have seen a lot of improvement in Ishant’s bowling and he has experience of playing there as well. But I think if these three play, it would be good for India,” Zaheer told India Today.

Virat Kohli will deliver in Australia again

Comparing both the sides, Zak feels that the Indian bowling is as good as the opposition but he thinks that it is the batting which holds an edge. He also backed the Indian skipper to come strong again in Australia. Virat Kohli had amassed 692 runs in four test matches during the previous tour in 2014.

“If you compare the two sides, the bowling sides of the two teams are even. But India’s batting looks stronger, taking into consideration experience and other factors. “Virat has done exceedingly well of late and he will deliver again. I think India has a very good chance to win the Australia series,” Zaheer stated.
