Zee News Editor Sudhir Chaudhary slammed on Twitter for his tweet against Team India

India vs Pakistan is, without a doubt, one of the biggest rivalries, not just in cricket but in other sports as well. And it’s not just the fans but also the players who enjoy it as much. The arch-rivals last met at the Eden Gardens in the T20 World Cup match last year in March, after which they collided yesterday at the Edgbaston Cricket Stadium in Birmingham in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. In what was a one-sided game, India beat Pakistan by 124 runs in a rain-curtailed match.

However, a section of the Indian media was not in support of the team playing Pakistan even in multilateral events due to cross-border terrorism. Media house Zee TV had already made it clear that it won’t be covering the Indo-Pak match. The founder of Zee Group Subhash Chandra himself tweeted that no channel of Zee group will cover the game.

This decision got support from all the journalists and reporters of the Zee group. Also, DNA came up with blank space on its newspaper’s front page to oppose any ties between the two countries. The caption below the blank space read, “This page is dedicated to the soldiers who are guarding our borders and our homeland. DNA stands with them—on the same page & belief that cricket and terror can’t go hand-in-hand.”

After the match, the senior editor of Zee News, Sudhir Chaudhary, took to Twitter to say that the Indian cricket team won the match but India lost. He wrote, “Cricket team won but India lost!”

Very evidently, this did not go down well with cricket fans who slammed the journalist for his tweet. There are a lot of people who think that cricket between the two countries is actually a way to improve the relations between them.
