The left handed batsman from Jarkhand came into spot light when he played for Mumbai Indians in 2010 season. Tiwary was the second highest run scorer for MI in that season and picked up as one of the best players in the season. He got a big demand in auctions in following season after been picked up in Indian team. He went for Royal Challengers Bangalore for about 7.5 crores but failed to reach his standard.
