Leg spin bowling has always been on everybody’s radar around the cricketing world. The legendary Shane Warne stunned the world with his ‘Ball of the century’ and redefined the concept of the leg-spin. Another leg spinner from Australia who raised many eyebrows was Lloyd Pope. The 19-year old, who represented Australia in the Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand, bettered his abilities with the ball.

Pope ran through England’s batting line-up as he bowled a dream spell of 8 for 35. This thus was the best figure ever produced in an Under-19 World Cup. England required only 128 runs to win but they were wrapped up at 96. He made his First-Class debut for South Australia in 2018 and in his second first-class match itself, he shone with seven wickets for 87 runs against Queensland.

He quickly made his space as a confident spinner bringing in a lot of repertoire on the field and bowling his heart out while his flowing red hair had a little conversation with the wind. He made the batters at the junior level struggle with his deliveries and earned the ‘Wizard’ tag for himself. It was expected that Pope might find himself in the deep waters of International cricket soon but it didn’t happen quite that way.
