11 Interesting facts about BPL anchor Peya Jannatul

There is a lot of buzz around Peya Jannatul in the cricketing circles as the model is hosting the fifth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League. A lot of cricket fans were surprised to see a new face around in the BPL this time. Peya having made a name for herself with her modelling and acting career took up the role to be in the centre of everything in the biggest cricketing extravaganza in Bangladesh.  Here are some interesting facts about Peya that you’d want to know.

1. Born on

Jannatul Ferdoush Peya was born on 14th October 1991 in Khulna, Bangladesh. She’s a model and an actress.

2. Educational Background

She completed her SSC from Govt. Coronation Girls High School, Khulna. Her childhood dream was to become a lawyer, so she pursued it by studying LLB at the London University. She has also completed her internship under Dr Kamal Hossain and Associates.

3. Miss Bangladesh

She went on to win the Miss Bangladesh title in the year 2007. This laid the foundation for her modelling career.

4. More recognition

In 2013, she won the crown of Miss Indian Princess International after defeating contestants from 19 countries. It was a huge achievement for her. Peya was also featured on the cover page of Vogue India. Moreover, she was amongst the best 10 in the Top Model of the World held in Egypt, 2013. She also won the World Miss University 2011 which was hosted in South Korea.

5. Theater

She has been a part of several theatrical acts which includes “To Be Or Not To Be” and “Projapitir Shukh Dukkho”.

6. Movies

She made her acting debut in the year 2012 in a movie named Chorabali. It was directed by Redwan Rony. She followed her good work with Gangster Returns and Story of Samara and has quite a few projects coming up.

7. Awards

Peya was nominated for the ‘Critics Choice Best Actress’ category at the Meril Prothom Alo Awards which is an annual Bangladesh awards function. She also won the best supporting actress award at the Bachsas Awards.

8. Inspiration 

When asked about her inspiration, Peya said that she looks up to none other than Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone. She further wants to follow her footsteps and expand her career internationally.

9. Charity work

Peya runs a charitable organization called as ‘We Foundation’ alongside her friends. It works for the helpless and needy people.

10. Endorsements

Earlier this year, she was named as the brand ambassador of TRESemmé in Bangladesh. It is a famous brand concerned with hair caring and styling.

11. NYFW

Peya became the first Bangladeshi model to attend the New York Fashion Week. The NYFW is considered as one of the biggest fashion events to be held across the globe.
