7. Most number of runs (15,921):

And a hat-trick for Tendulkar. The man reached such a phenomenal figure in 200 Tests at an average of 53.78. Ponting at 13,378 is the second best. Another Indian, Rahul Dravid is at the fourth position with 13,289 – just one run behind Jaques Kallis, the third position holder.

8. First to reach 10,000 runs in Tests:

The original Little Master Sunil Gavaskar. Though eclipsed by several players now, the diminutive master batsman had scaled the peak way back in the late 1980s and owned the record till Allan Border broke it first.

9. Best bowling figures in Tests:

Though England’s Jim Laker has the best figure (10 for 53), but Anil Kumble achieved no less a feat by pocketing all 10 in an innings against arch-rivals Pakistan at Delhi in 1999. Critics might have a share of opinion, but Kumble at Kotla was just unstoppable on that February morning.
