1. Nativity
Adam Voges was born on 4th October 1979 in Subiaco, Western Australia and raised in Rockingham.
2. Onset of his career
Adam Voges began his cricketing career with the Western Australia U-19 side and was its captain during that time.
3. Claim to fame
In the ING cup, Adam Voges set the record for scoring the fastest one-day century in the country’s history. He scored 100 off just 62 deliveries. This feat made him famous. Interestingly, he also won $50,000 in the same match for hitting the ING sign in the stadium. His performances in the ING cup and Sheffield cup brought him to attention
4. The Wonderful 2006/07 season
Adam Voges would have made his test debut long before in the year 2006 if he had been selected over Andrew Symonds before the 2006 Ashes series. Damien Martyn’s sudden retirement made the Australian selectors look for the immediate replacement for him. Adam Voges was having a dream run in the domestic level at that time. However, unfortunately for him, the selectors preferred the experienced Symonds over him. Thus, denying him the golden opportunity to represent his country.
5. Debut
After toiling hard in the domestic level for many years, he was finally called up to the Australian Test squad in the year 2015 for the West Indies tour. Adam Voges got the opportunity to come out in the field wearing the baggy green at the age of 35.
6. Unique feats
Adam Voges holds a unique record to his name. He holds the record of being the oldest player to score a century on his debut among all countries. He also happens to be the oldest player to win the Man of the Match award on Test debut.
