India and West Indies have currently locked horns in the ongoing first ODI in Chennai. The visitors opted to field after winning the toss even as India handed an ODI debut to Shivam Dube in Hardik Pandya’s absence. However, the crowd favourites, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, couldn’t do much thanks to some smart bowling from the Caribbeans.

The onus fell on the likes of Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant to rebuild the innings. And just when the duo was going about its job, a bizarre incident took place. The dog broke through the security to enter the stadium before the start of the 27th over of the innings. A security official ran behind it but the dog was winning the race hands down and it also presented an entertaining moment to the crowd.

There were loud cheers with an unexpected incident taking place. The play was halted for a couple of mins as the umpires waited for the dog to go off the ground which eventually happened and the action began again.

Here’s the video:

India on-course to post a decent total

As far as India’s innings is concerned, they got off to the worst possible start. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli got out cheaply much to the disappointment of the crowd. Both of them were snapped up by Sheldon Cottrell only to bring out his salute celebration. Rohit Sharma hung in there for a while but his favourite pull shot turned out to be his nemesis today as he could score only 36 to leave India in trouble at 80/3.

However, since then, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant have batted well to bring the innings back on track. Both of them have crossed their respective 50-run mark and are looking good in the middle. India will now hope to post a more than decent total on the board and then bank on their bowlers to come good on the pitch which is expected to slow down as the game progresses. And hopefully, the dog stays away from the stadium for the rest of the encounter.
