14-year-old Priyanshu Moliya smashes an unbeaten 556

Moliya is mentored by the former Indian cricketer Mohinder Amarnath.

14-year-old Priyanshu Moliya is in the headlines for his unbeaten 556 in Shri DK Gaekwad Under-14 tournament. The youngster, who is mentored by former cricketer Mohinder Amarnath achieved the incredible feat in a two-day fixture at the Vadodara Cricket Academy (VCA) ground. Earlier, he had moved to Baroda from Rajkot. Priyanshu honed his skills at the Mohinder Amarnath Academy and is proud to play for the team.

Moliya, who bowls off-spin, first picked four wickets in the first innings. His bowling has helped bowl out Yogi Cricket Academy for just 52 runs on day one. Then, he came out to bat and amassed a mammoth 408 runs at the close of play on the day. He carried on with the brilliance with another 148 runs on day two to make it 556 runs off only 319 balls. Priyanshu Moliya hit 98 fours and one six in his innings as his side ended with 826 runs on the board for the loss of four wickets.

“My previous highest was 254 in the same tournament last year. I was just playing my normal game as the bowling attack was good. It was a satisfying innings, but yes, I was beaten on four to five occasions. “After my first hundred on Monday, I told myself that I need to score 200. I set goals of 100 runs each and was determined to continue playing the same way,” Priyanshu told after this innings.

Priyanshu also added that Mohinder Amarnath, as well as his dad, were delighted with this innings. He also thanked his first coach at Rajkot, Anil Thakral for the help and guidance.

“When I saw him for the first time, I knew I was seeing something special. He is a fine talent and he will get better with exposure. I like his passion as well,” Mohinder said while speaking to mid-day.
