Delhi Capitals (DC) will lock horns against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the final of the ongoing 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) on November 10, Tuesday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

While Delhi will be entering the contest after registering a comprehensive victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the second Qualifier of the tournament, Mumbai will be soaring with confidence after their massive win against DC by 57 runs in the first Qualifier.

The Capitals, led by Shreyas Iyer, need to show great character and bring forth their A-game against Rohit Sharma’s MI as in their last three outings against each other, Mumbai came out trumps. While in the first outing against Mumbai, Delhi had given a tough competition to the defending champions, their last two meetings were completely one-sided affairs.

Also, this would be Delhi’s maiden outing in the final of the league since its inception in 2008. However, there are certain odds that are in the favour of the relatively young and inexperienced team and can result in DC ending their 13-year wait to lift the coveted T20 Trophy on Tuesday.

In the article, let’s look at three coincidences in DC’s favour to win IPL 2020:

1. There is a new champion in every leap year

Since 2008, five teams have managed to win the trophy of the T20 extravaganza and in every leap year i.e 2008, 2012, 2016 there was a new winner. The inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League was won by Rajasthan Royals (RR) against Chennai Super Kings (CSK.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had earned their maiden IPL crown by registering a comprehensive victory against CSK by five wickets in 2012. The final of the 2016 IPL edition witnessed a thrilling encounter between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore where the former outshined the latter to win their only T20 title.

Following this trend, we should get a new winner in 2020 too. As Mumbai have already emerged victorious four times in the past, Delhi Capitals should lift the cup in the 13th edition of the T20 Championship.
