Along with the team, the captain Rohit Sharma has also never lifted any T20 Trophy while playing in an even year. Rohit had won his first T20 title in 2007 when India, under the leadership of MS Dhoni, had clinched the maiden ICC T20 World Cup by defeating Pakistan in the final.

The swashbuckling batsman had won his maiden IPL in 2009 while playing for now-defunct Deccan Chargers. The Chargers, led by wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist, had defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by six runs to lift the coveted trophy. This was followed by Rohit guiding Mumbai Indians to victory in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019.

However, there was only one time when the Mumbai-born featured in the final of a T20 tournament and his team didn’t emerge victorious. India reached the final of the 2014 ICC T20 World Cup and locked horns against Sri Lanka. A mediocre batting performance from the Men in Blue resulted in the island-nation lifting the cup.

The match against Delhi Capitals would be Rohit’s first outing in the IPL final in an even year and looking at the aforementioned coincidences there are high chances that Mumbai will end up on the losing side.
