Surely, an RCB bowler topping the Purple Cap charts is like a Utopian scenario. But then, in the 2021 edition of the IPL, Harshal Patel emerged as the star performer with the ball. The right-arm pacer scalped 17 wickets and took them at an average of 15.12. Patel even scalped a five-wicket haul as well and is the current holder of the Purple Cap.

And surely, Patel’s excellent performance with the ball in hand played a key role in the Virat Kohli led side winning 5 out of the 7 matches that they have played (at the time of suspension) and occupying the 3rd place in the points table.
