Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are one of the most consistent teams in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). They made it to the playoffs in every single season. Moreover, only in two seasons, they failed to make it to the final. Thus, they’ve been one of the best teams in the IPL.

One of their secrets to consistency has been the continuity and consistency with players. CSK are a side that doesn’t like chopping and changing a lot. Be it the XI or the squad, they don’t like meddling with it too much.

However, in the last couple of years, there are players who haven’t got a lot of chances and have failed in the limited opportunities they’ve got. Thus, here are three players who CSK should axe ahead of next year’s IPL.

1. Karn Sharma

In 2018, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) build their side with plenty of spin options. Karn Sharma was one among the many they picked. He was the only Indian leg-spinner in the squad. However, he hasn’t been able to get consistent chances in the playing XI.

In 2018, the Uttar Pradesh leg-spinner played six games and returned with disappointing numbers. He picked up just four wickets and conceded runs at 9.37 runs per over. Last season, he played just one game and returned with figures of 1/33 from 2.5 overs.

Hence, Karn Sharma has been on the decline. Moreover, with multiple other spin options, it’s unlikely that he can break into the XI even next season. He’s also blown hot and cold in the domestic circuit. Thus, CSK should look to part ways with Karn and maybe look to add some depth in the pace bowling department.
