KM Asif is a pretty unknown figure in Indian cricketing circles. The Kerala cricketer made his List ‘A’ and T20 debut in early 2018. He impressed in a couple of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy games and also had a good List ‘A’ debut. Hence, he was picked up by CSK for INR 40 lakhs in the 2018 auctions.

Given CSK’s inconsistent pace attack, Asif played a couple of games in the 2018 season. He made his debut against Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and played one more game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He picked up three wickets and had an economy of 12.50. After those two games, the right-arm pacer from Kerala never featured in the XI.

He was benched for the entire 2019 season. With Deepak Chahar, Mohit Sharma and Shardul Thakur, it’s going to be tough to break into the XI next season as well. Thus, CSK may want to release him and look at other options.
