KL Rahul has been waiting for an opportunity to open the innings for India in T20 cricket. The right-handed batsman holds the record for the fastest IPL fifty and, as he had performed brilliantly in the final T20I against Bangladesh, and hence, the team management should give him a chance to open the innings.

Rahul opens the innings for his domestic team, Karnataka as well as for his IPL franchise, Kings XI Punjab. He has already scored two T20I centuries for India while he has also scored a hundred in the IPL.

Hence, there is no need to justify the talent that he possesses. The Bangalore-born batsman had done this job for India in the 2019 World Cup as well. And playing at this position, he had recently guided Karnataka to a 7-wicket win over Punjab. Rahul stayed unbeaten on 84 in pursuit of the 167-run target.

With the form, talent and experience in his favour, there is no reason why Rahul should not open the innings with Rohit Sharma against West Indies.
