3 T20 captains that fans may have forgotten

There have been many players whose captaincy in T20I cricket went unnoticed.

Ajinkya Rahane used to be one of India’s finest all-format middle-order batters till early 2018 after which he became a full-time Test specialist and the vice-captain in the longest format. Rahane is remembered for leading a third-string Indian team to a famous 2-1 series win in Australia during the 2020/21 season coming from behind after losing the series opener in Adelaide where India registered their lowest Test score of 36.

Nonetheless, it is to be noted that Rahane had also led India in the shortest format on two occasions. This happened to be during the two-match T20I series against Zimbabwe in 2015. While the Men in Blue came out on top in the first game by an emphatic 54 runs, the Indians were stunned by the hosts in the decider by 10 runs chasing a manageable target of 146.

The Mumbai cricketer was criticized a lot after that humiliating defeat and he no longer got a chance to lead Indian from the front in T20Is ever again.
