With the 13th edition of the IPL coming to its closure, it has been a sublime season for the cricket enthusiasts. Fans have beamed with joy after spectacular contests between bat and ball transpired in the iconic stadiums of United Arab Emirates.

Every team management sweated it out during the auction to arm the franchises with the best of combinations. However, the investment did not pay rich dividends for many teams drawing scores of criticism from the evergreen fans. With international cricketers donning the IPL jersey along with Indian renegades, every season sets up benchmark speaking volumes about the rising standard of the game.

Moving ahead towards the 14th edition of the cash-rich tournament, the team owners and support staffs will need to scratch their heads in order to get the team back on the winning track. Interestingly, the sword of Damocles apparently hangs over the heads of the skippers. Especially, those who have remained blunt throughout the sharp competition.

So, let’s check out the teams who are mulling to change their captains ahead of the 14th edition:

1. Kolkata Knight Riders

The two-time titleholders have always been a team of greats ever since its inception in 2008. From the likes of Brendon McCullum, Jacques Kallis to Gautam Gambhir and Chris Gayle, the Shah Rukh Khan owned franchise has scripted heroics with their power-packed brand of cricket time and again.

However, the 13th edition of the IPL  apparently had nothing much to cherish about for the purple and gold outfit. The squad experienced significant tremors in the mid-season. Dinesh Karthik threw the sipper’s hat into the ring owing to his poor run with the willow. Eventually, the world Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan took over the charges with pride and happiness.

Although the team could not make it to the playoffs, KKR featured at the fifth position after the end of the league stage. The team won 7 matches and lost as many matches in 14 appearances in the ongoing season. Multiplying problems for captain Morgan is his not-so-admirable stint with the bat amassing 418 runs in 14 appearances.

Under profound scrutiny and criticism, the Kolkata-based outfit will be interested in making a robust change in the team balance along with the captain. It is expected that a new captain may hold the position of responsibility who can sensibly shoulder the emotions of millions of fans.
