It was a surprise when Chris Lynn was released by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of the IPL 2020 auction. The dashing Australian batsman has been a key member of the KKR line-up over the last couple of years. The Queenslander played a vital role at the top of the order and has amassed more than 400 runs in 2018 and 2019.

Moreover, Lynn has the ability to take the game away from the opposition in no time. He can smash it around at will. He has also been in good form in recent times. In the T10 league in Abu Dhabi, Lynn has racked up runs at a hemorrhaging while playing for Maratha Arabians. He has a phenomenal strike-rate around the 240-mark. Thus, his form makes him one of the hot picks in the upcoming auction.

Here are three teams that should bid for Lynn in the 2020 season of the IPL auction:

It was a pretty busy off-season for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). They retained 12 players but only two of them are overseas players. Hence, Lynn might be one of the players to watch out for who RCB might opt for. They have a decent purse and have a lot of overseas slots left.

Moreover, RCB also need a top-order batsman. With Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Parthiv Patel present, Lynn could give a different dimension to this line-up. He can be someone who can simply go after the bowling and give them good and flying starts.

In fact, RCB have heavily relied on Kohli and de Villiers for far too long. Lynn’s addition can ease some pressure and let the star duo play a lot more freely. The pitch at the Chinnaswamy Stadium will also help Lynn’s stroke-play. It could well be the boost the Bangalore-based franchise are looking for.
