Knowing and backing your team well is an important prerequisite for captaincy and the more you back your players, the more they are likely to deliver on a consistent basis. Virat has backed Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal well enough and they are a force to reckon with, today.

Virat listens to his bowlers and backs them even though the situation might not favour them. Pant, Siraj, and Khaleel Ahmed are all by-products of his backing and it’s certain that it has done them loads of good. The Indian bowling attack is a threat to any team these days even when the team is travelling and that is all because of instinctive backing of the players by the captain.

Coming to Sarfaraz, he is often seen taunting his bowlers whenever they are off the mark and does not really inspire them to bowl or perform at their best. During one of the matches of New Zealand tour last year, Hasan Ali was dejected after conceding a boundary and he didn’t even bother to stop and listen to his captain who came running all the way from his position to give him a piece of advice. This shows the type of impact Sarfaraz has on his players.

Mistakes are bound to happen during the match and there is no pointing venting the frustration on the particular player on the field itself which Sarfaraz does time and again.

Leading a team is an art and Virat is slowly developing to be a masterpiece of the same. Having said that, even Kohli is not perfect at it so far but Sarfaraz can take inspiration from him. Learning a thing or two from Virat will certainly benefit Pakistan’s captain.
