In the 80s Craig McDermott used to stun his opponents with his fierce fast-bowling and now his son, Ben McDermott is continuing the legacy. The only difference is that the junior is making his name with the batting credentials. The 24-year-old is already termed a long-term prospect for the Australian team. Mainly his range hitting has made him a fan favorite in the country’s cricketing community.

Though Ben is plying his trade in all the formats his strong suit is his white-ball game. It is evident from his List-A and T20 record where he averages 54 and 32 respectively. Even in the 8th edition of BBL, he proved his liking to the shortest format by accumulating over 350 runs. The right-hander efficiently shouldered the responsibilities of the middle-order of Hobart Hurricanes.

With his power game, he also provided the finishing touches in a couple of ties. Also, Ben’s short-arm jab sixes have become a popular signature shot in the league. Due to his raw talent, he might be an instant hit in the IPL 2020. Someone like Delhi Capitals will be hugely benefitted by his skillset as they have failed to find a reliable option at No.4 in their last season. He can also double up as their finisher as he has the required big shots in his arsenal.
