Ever since they changed their name from Delhi Daredevils (DD) to Delhi Capitals (DC), they have seldom made any wrong calls. However, if they don’t retain their star opener, Shikhar Dhawan, in the mega auction in 2022 then that would definitely go down as a very bad decision. Despite being on the wrong side of the ’30s, Dhawan looks in superb touch.

It would be safe to say that his current IPL form is his best. He has been DC’s best batsman in all the seasons he has played so far. He has transformed himself into a proper T20 match-winner in the last few seasons.

While DC do have a lot of options to retain in the mega auction, they can easily use their RTM to get Dhawan back in the worst possible case. Dhawan himself has enjoyed playing in DC and would love to play for them in the upcoming season as well. Thus, DC should not let go of the southpaw at any cost.
