Following the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in August 2021, a new board was appointed to assist and support the growth of cricket in Afghanistan. <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/relief-for-bowlers-will-miss-you-mr-360-rashid-khan-pens-heartfelt-message-after-ab-de-villiers-retirement/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rashid Khan</a> resigned as captain shortly after the squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE was announced.

Following the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in August 2021, a new board was appointed to assist and support the growth of cricket in Afghanistan. <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/relief-for-bowlers-will-miss-you-mr-360-rashid-khan-pens-heartfelt-message-after-ab-de-villiers-retirement/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rashid Khan</a> resigned as captain shortly after the squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE was announced.
Rashid was apparently dissatisfied with the World Cup team selections. He claimed that the Afghanistan Cricket Board and the selection committee did not obtain his approval for the team that was chosen for the mega event. Rashid also refused to disclose which of the team selections he was dissatisfied with.
He stated that as a captain and responsible citizen of the country, he reserved the right to have a say in team selections, which unfortunately did not occur. Rashid took to Twitter to express his displeasure with the team and resigned as captain. Mohammad Nabi took over as captain for the tournament in Oman and the UAE.

Rashid Latif, Pakistan&#8217;s former wicketkeeper batter, stepped down as captain ahead of the 2003 tour of South Africa. Latif was at odds with the PCB and the selection committee after writing a letter to the ICC about the match-fixing scandals that were going on at the time.
Tauqir Zia, the chairman of PCB at the time, had expressed his displeasure with Latif when the latter was embroiled in a controversy over claiming a catch after dropping it. Latif had also developed disagreements with the selection committee, questioning their decision on team selections.
Moreover, he made statements to the media and wrote a letter to the ICC, both of which clearly violated the PCB&#8217;s Code of Conduct. Latif resigned as captain ahead of the tour of <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/reports-shardul-thakur-added-to-india-a-squad-for-south-africa-tour-suryakumar-yadav-included-for-new-zealand-tests/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">South Africa</a> and handed over the reins to Inzamam ul-Haq, stating that he was completely fit for the role.
