These players miserably failed on a very basic aspect of the sport - discipline.

The fans of cricket are so invested in their favourite sport that they worship their favourite cricketers. A cricketer, who becomes a hero for his nation, is no inferior to god for a very brief moment. But above all, cricketers are humans too. Like in every other profession, we have had quite a few cricketers who were caught red-handed for their malicious practices.

Match fixing is a very common criminal offence in cricket. We have seen reputed cricketers like S Sreesanth and Salman Butt getting involved in it, while there are cricketers like Chris Lewis who were convicted in drug smuggling. But perhaps sexual crime is the most disgusting thing a cricketer can commit, and unfortunately, we’ve had such incidents the past.

Let us have a look at 5 cricketers who are alleged sex offenders:

5. Lorrie Wilmot – South Africa

It will be fitting if we start this list with a very shocking story. South Africa’s Lorrie Wilmot was one of the biggest hitters the country possessed at that time. It has been reported that he once hit New Zealand spinner John Sparling for a six that went 120 metres. Though he didn’t get a national cap, he was still a celebrated player in the domestic circuit, having played 147 first-class games.

But his life turned upside down when the paedophile side of him was revealed. It was found that Wilmot had raped a 13-year-old girl. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison. To make things worse, he was also suffering from an incurable disease.

Wilmot found it extremely difficult to cope up with all this, and in 2004, he committed suicide by shooting himself at his farm.
