Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is the most recent cricketer to be banned for failing to report match-fixing charges. Since 2017, he was approached by an Indian bookie thrice for revealing internal team information. While he was first approached during BPL 2017, he was asked for information again two times in 2018.

While one was during an international assignment, the other was during the IPL 2018. However, on neither of these occasions, Shakib Al Hasan reported to any anti-corruption body. The International Cricket Council (ICC) interrogated him on two occasions in 2019.

After a thorough investigation, the ICC slapped him with a two-year backdated suspension which ends on 29 October 2020. Shakib Al Hasan accepted all the three charges that were laid against him. During the period, the all-rounder will also miss the T20 World Cup 2020.
