There is no doubt that Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are one of the most decorated teams in the history of the IPL. In fact, they are arguably the most entertaining side in the history of the league as well. Be it on or off the field, the RCB franchise never ceases to entertain.
There’s never been a dearth of star players. In fact, apart from the current lot of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, the likes of Jacques Kallis, Dale Steyn, Yuvraj Singh, Kevin Pietersen, Ross Taylor, Zaheer Khan and a lot of other Indian and international cricketers have been a part of the RCB set-up in the last 12 years. However, they have never lifted the IPL title. In fact, they’ve been very inconsistent. The Bangalore-based franchise has reached the finals on three occasions but has choked in the final hurdle.
However, some of these players have moved on from RCB and won IPL titles with other teams. Hence, here we take a look at five players who left RCB and wore the tag of ‘IPL Champions’ with other teams.
1. Jacques Kallis
Perhaps, Jacques Kallis was the greatest all-rounder to have played in the modern era. The South African all-rounder was one of RCB’s key players in the first three years. Be it with bat or ball, Kallis always chipped in with decent performances.
In fact, Kallis was the first-ever RCB player to aggregate more than 1000 runs in the IPL. He’s played 42 games across three seasons and he has amassed 1132 runs at an average of 31.44. Yet, he is the fourth-highest run-getter despite not featuring for the franchise after the 2010 season. Moreover, he has taken 23 wickets with the ball.
However, RCB did not retain or buy back the star all-rounder in 2011. It was Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) who bought him and in four years, Kallis won two titles with KKR. With RCB, Kallis reached the final in the 2009 season and the semi-final in the 2010 season. But he never got his hands on the gold. But with KKR, he won it in 2012 and then again in 2014.
