Ranadeb Bose was one of the better fast bowlers of his generation at the domestic level, but he was never given a chance to prove himself at the international stage. The Bengal pacer picked up 57 wickets in just 8 games at a strike rate of 39.4 during the 06/07 Ranji Trophy and fired himself onto the selectors’ radar.

As a reward for his excellent performance, he was picked for the England tour in 2007, but he didn’t get an opportunity as Zaheer Khan, RP Singh and Sreesanth were picked ahead of him. In the following Ranji Trophy campaign, his returns dwindled while the other fast bowlers like Praveen Kumar who performed well were given opportunities.

The pacer picked up 317 wickets in 91 first class games at a strike rate of 55.87, and in an ideal world he would have probably been a part of the Indian playing XI that sealed a memorable series win at England.
