In the world of attacking openers, cricket fans have underrated the talent of Tamim Iqbal. He is the first Bangladeshi batsman to score a century at the Lord’s. Well, even though IPL is a T20 league, Tamim Iqbal had the talent to play the anchor for any team. He was in fine touch during the 2011 cricket season. This led to Wisden announcing him as the Cricketer of the Year.

During the 2016 T20 world cup, he scored an unbeaten 83 against the Netherlands during his first match of the tournament. After that, during the must-win encounter against Oman, he smashed 103 off just 63 balls. Hence, he became the first Bangladeshi to score a T20I century. For Tamim, it is his class that gains the attention of everyone who follows cricket.

It looks like his T20I strike rate is the only thing that has hampered his chances. Tamim has a strike rate of 117.2, which is not lucrative. But, his match-winning ability is an asset for any team. In 78 matches, he has scored 1758 runs, which is a decent record. But, it was not enough for him to get an IPL contract.
