The wicketkeeper-batsman Eklavya Dwivedi shone in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2016 as he garnered 258 runs in just nine matches for his team. A great performance in the domestic league earned Dwivedi a lucrative IPL contract as he was bought by now defunct Gujarat Lions for their 2016 edition at a staggering price of Rs. 1 crore.

Before being a part of Gujarat Lions, the middle-order batsman had largely warmed the bench for Chennai Super Kings and Pune Warriors in the previous seasons. However, the UP stalwart failed to capitalize the opportunities provided to him as he could score only 24 runs in 4 matches before getting dropped from the team.

After a failed IPL debut, Eklavya was not retained by the Lions the next year and went unsold in the auction. He was last seen in action in January 2018 where he represented his state Uttar Pradesh in a domestic game.
