Fitness has become one of the most important aspects at the moment in the modern cricketing era. With new formats like T10 and The Hundred coming into existence, a total of five formats will be played throughout the year going forward. Though only three formats are played at the international level, the active players feature in other leagues and the demands of the game make it necessary for the cricketers to stay extremely fit.

Rather ever since Virat Kohli has taken over the reins of the Indian team, he has led from the front in terms of fitness. Yo-yo test has been made compulsory to clear if a player has to make it to the team and this has kept the uncapped cricketers fit as well. A lot of players at the domestic level are fitter than ever at the moment and if they perform well at the same time, some of them even stand a chance to get selected for the top-level cricket.

Here we bring you five fittest uncapped Indian cricketers at the moment:

Mayank Dagar definitely has to be on top of the list when it comes to fitness. He plays for Himachal Pradesh in domestic cricket and has made headlines for his accomplishments in terms of fitness. Mayank was not know to many until he went past the Indian captain Virat Kohli in terms of his yo-yo test score.

He himself had posted a story of his score in the yo-yo test which was 19.3 in 2018. Rather he also surpassed another Indian cricketer who is considered the fittest in the team at the moment, Manish Pandey. Mayank Dagar posts his workout videos every now and then for his followers.

As far as his career is concerned, he has played 23 First-Class, 26 List-A and 25 T20 matches in his career thus far. He was also picked by the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the IPL 2018 but didn’t get to play a single game.

Saurashtra cricketer Sheldon Jackson has been a perfect example of how to stay fit even during tough times in career. He is probably in the best phase of his career plundering runs for his state team in the domestic circuit. He played a crucial role in Saurashtra’s title-winning run this season.

Sheldon Jackson could be termed as one of the unluckiest players in India for not getting chances to represent his country at the highest level. Despite that, he has stayed fit to motivate himself and amassed 809 runs in 18 innings in Ranji Trophy this season at an average of 50.56 with three centuries and as many half-centuries.

Sheldon Jackson keeps posting his workout videos and motivational messages for his followers and it shows why he is one of the fittest going around in India.

Avesh Khan who plays for Madhya Pradesh in domestic cricket is another player who is getting fitter with every passing day. It is tough for pace bowlers to stay fit, especially for the ones who love to generate extra pace. Avesh Khan is one such player and loves to clock over 140 kph constantly.

To do the same, fitness is of utmost importance and the 23-year-old completely understands it. Even in the ongoing pandemic during which all the cricketers are stuck at home, he’s been making sure that he stays fit for the upcoming season.

In terms of his on-field experience, Avesh Khan has played 26 first-class matches picking exactly 100 wickets thus far and was in decent form with the ball in the six matches he played for his state team this season. He has also 10 and 18 wickets in List A and T20 format in 16 and 21 games respectively. If he continues to perform consistently in domestic circuit and stay fit, the selectors will definitely give him a chance to shine for India.

4. Surya Kumar Yadav

Surya Kumar Yadav is one of the most talked about cricketer over the last year or so. He has been in exceptional form especially in the shorter formats of the game and is getting closer to playing for India. He was recently picked for India A as well for the New Zealand tour.

Rather his rise started after he was picked by the Mumbai Indians in the IPL in 2018 where he opened the innings. He used to play some crazy and unorthodox shots during his knocks which left the fans in awe. Apart from his cricketing heroics, Surya’s fitness regime is also exceptional and his workout videos on Youtube are no less than an inspiration.

There is a three-part series on Youtube about Surya Kumar Yadav’s fitness regime and one can really follow him in the fitness aspect. With his current fitness and form, it shouldn’t be long before Surya dons the India jersey.

Now this name will be surprising for many but the 18-year-old Riyan Parag is certainly coming up as one of the fittest cricketers around the country. He hogged the limelight after playing a few swashbuckling knocks for the Rajasthan Royals last year in the IPL.

He was even in decent form in the Ranji Trophy this year while playing for his state team Assam. The way he tonks the ball despite being a pocket sized player amazes everyone and the reason for the same is his fitness.

A couple of videos on his Instagram handle prove how serious Riyan is about his fitness. He could be seen lifting weights easily in the gym. He could be the next big thing in the Indian cricket if he continues playing cricket in the same way and most importantly stay fit.
