Over the years India has produced several cricketing icons and Anil Kumble is right on top that list. He will be regarded as one of the finest individuals to represent the country at the international level. The leg-spinner has been a torchbearer of the Indian cricket with his wicket-taking spells and as well as with his administration activities, coaching stint.

Even after his retirement, he has invariably found himself associated with the game. Nowadays he also appears as a special guest in cricket shows. He is considered a great thinker of the game and that’s why his comments have always hogged the limelight. It was no different when he gave his verdict on Rohit Sharma’s new role in the Test team.

Kumble didn’t agree with the selectors’ decision. He stated that Rohit is a good player but didn’t like the idea of him opening the innings. Though he admitted that it is a desperate situation he wanted the team management to brew young talents who have worked their way up in the domestic circuit. He further added that KL Rahul has been getting starts but his inability to convert them has resulted in such last-minute moves.
