Andre Russell’s most sixes in a single T20 tournament

Andre Russell’s potential to pick the bones out a cricket leather is an open secret. It’s brute force when it comes to the Jamaican and there’s no half-measure. The West Indies batsman doesn’t tread a complicated route and plays with an unflustered mind. He tends to go bonkers right from the outset.

Let alone the balls he middles, even his mis-hits tend to sail over the boundary quite easily. In the 2019 IPL, Russell smacked as many as 52 sixes. At one point of the league, it seemed that he will cross Chris Gayle’s tally of 59 for the most sixes in any T20 tournament.

The surprising element was that he got the figures, batting lower down the order. In the last few games, he batted higher and it paid dividends. If for KKR, he is persisted with at the top, then he could end up with around 65 to 70 sixes if not more.
