Nishant Sindhu was made the captain of the side when India’s captain and vice-captain both tested positive for COVID-19. He captained the side against Ireland and Uganda and ensured a win for his team in both of the games. He scored a good-looking 36 of 34 balls against Ireland. He also bowls left-arm orthodox spin and is very economical as he has bowled with an economy rate of 2.75 in three games picking four wickets.

The left-handed batter hails from Haryana and idolizes Yuvraj Singh. He has not given any stand-out performance in the World Cup but has displayed that he is a good leader and can handle pressure situations. Many IPL teams like RCB and Punjab Kings lack a lower-order batter who can also contribute with the ball so for them, Nishant Sindhu can be a valuable buy. Unfortunately, he also got tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday 28th January 2022, and will miss the rest of the tournament.
