If any player has been under more scrutiny than any one else, he is Rishabh Pant. The youngster has been criticised immensely for not delivering on the talent promised. This is what happens when a player is so talented and Pant sometimes looks baffled about what to do and what not.

He has been touted as MS Dhoni’s successor from the word go and that has increased the pressure on him. Pant has so far played 16 ODIs and 28 T20 Internationals scoring 374 and 410 runs respectively. He averages only 26.71 in the 50-over format and is yet to score runs on a consistent basis to seal his place in the team. The same is the case in the shortest format for him.

With KL Rahul taking his place in the shorter formats, Pant looks set to be dropped at some point in the future it seems. However, in the Tests, he has fared decently well averaging close to 39 in 13 matches (22 innings) scoring 814 runs. Though he is still not the preferred wicketkeeper in the side with Wriddhiman Saha in the plans while playing at home.
