Unfortunately like the entire world, the cricketing fraternity has also come to a standstill due to the recent outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus. Such has been its impact that various international and domestic cricketing events have been canceled or postponed. Even the IPL has become the victim of the pandemic as it has been delayed by two weeks.

Still, there is hope amongst the fans that the IPL 2020 will take place with minimal schedule changes. For that to happen the league will have to go away from their tried and tested formula. In doing so they might also lose their fanbase but it will be better than completely calling off the league which is loved by millions of people.

Here is the list of 5 norms IPL 2020 might not follow due to the Coronavirus outbreak: –

1) Home and away concept

The expression ” There is nothing better than home ” can be easily correlated with cricket. The reason being no matter how many games a cricketing team loses or wins they will always be loved when they play in front of their crowd. That’s why even a tournament like IPL has often followed home and away concept in their fixtures.

Such a model has not only helped the league grow but it has also allowed the game to sow its seeds in remote areas. Besides it also makes the cricketers aware of the various cultures in different parts of the country. The home and away fixtures have been one of the highlights of this league as it takes the cricketer and fan connection to a whole new level.

Sadly this time the concept might not be implemented due to the coronavirus terror. It has already made its appearance in 16 states of the country. On top of that states like Delhi, Maharashtra and Karnataka have already shut doors to the league which is not a positive sign as those regions are the major hubs of IPL. So it seems that most of the teams are unlikely to get the home advantage in IPL 2020.
