With IPL auctions just round the corner, the excitement of the fans is off the roof. With the teams working on  covering all their bases, the fans have their own analysis of which player would fit right in, into their team. Royal Challengers Bangalore have not always had world class auctions, helping them cover all their bases.

They always lacked a certain department because of which they never lifted the IPL trophy. Despite having Virat Kohli and Ab de Villiers in their team, RCB still remains one of the only 3 teams to never lift the IPL trophy. Bangalore have made it to the finals before, but they always fell short of the victory. Part of the reason is that they did not have all the boxes ticked. Let’s see some players which they can target for 2021 IPL Auction

5 Overseas players RCB can target to fill their overseas slots in IPL 2021 Auction

1. Chris Morris

Chris Morris is one of the perfect players for RCB to fill their overseas slot. Bangalore released the South African before the IPL 2021, probably because of the price. In IPL 2020, Royal Challengers Bangalore bought Chris Morris for 10 Crore, which is probably a little too much, according to RCB.

Morris had a decent outing for RCB in IPL 2020 and he would definitely not be cheap this time around. The all-rounder would probably not cost RCB 10 crore this time, but he won’t come in cheap either. If RCB can get Chris Morris for cheap, he could prove to be extremely valuable for them.

Chris Morris has had a decent overall career in IPL with the bat as well as the ball. He has scored over 550 runs at a strike rate of 153, which is excellent for a lower order batsman. With the ball, he has been sensational with 80 wickets in 70 innings at an economy rate of under 8.

2. Riley Meredith

Riley Meredith of Hobart Hurricanes has hogged the limelight for the whole of BBL season this time around. Playing for the Hobart Hurricanes, he has clocked in some sensational pace and has troubled the batsmen. He has also clocked more than 150 kph on multiple occasions and RCB could eye him to improve their bowling attack.

Meredith is also a decent death bowler and the franchise needs a player like him who can nail yorkers at pace. In the BBL 2020-21, Meredith picked 16 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 24.62.

RCB has released the likes of Morris and Udana who did decently in the last season. They will definitely be looking for a fresh death bowler and Meredith is the perfect option as he is in good form.

3. Steven Smith

As a fan, you always want to see 3 of the most iconic batsmen of our generation in the same team. Royal Challengers Bangalore can make that happen if they try and sign Steve Smith in the upcoming auctions. With Steve Smith in their team, RCB would have Ab de Villiers, Virat Kohli, and Steve Smith himself in the same batting line up, something that every fan wants to see.

After releasing Aaron Finch, the team would want to target a partner for Devdutt Padikkal. Steve Smith has opened the batting for Rajasthan Royals in the past and could fill in as an opener for RCB, should they get him in the auctions. Smith’s inclusion would also stabilize the top order of Royal Challengers Bangalore.

That being said, we have an outside chance of seeing Steve Smith, Virat Kohli, and Ab De Villiers batting at Number 2, Number 3, and Number 4 respectively, for the same team. The dynamic this batting line-up offers could well be the ticket to IPL trophy.

4. Mitchell McClenaghan

Mitchell McClenaghan could be another left-arm quick which RCB would want in their team. Mitchell McClenaghan might prove to be a little expensive, but he does get you wickets and shift momentum towards you.

In IPL 2020, Mitchell McClenaghan warmed the bench for Mumbai Indians, which comes as no surprise. With Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult in the team, it’s difficult for you to get the first preference. However, RCB could just be the destination for the Kiwi pacer, where he could get regular chances.

McClenaghan’s wicket-taking ability makes him a formidable bowler. In IPL, he has taken 71 wickets in just 56 matches. However, he tends to go for runs at the death and during the powerplay as well, so his inclusion could be a little tricky.

5. Nathan Coulter-Nile

Another Australian which RCB might target is Nathan Coulter-Nile. Bowling has not always been the strong suit for Royal Challengers Bangalore which is why Nathan Coulter-Nile must be a target for them. His hard-hitting abilities down the order come as cherry on top of the cake.

Coulter-Nile played for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2020, but was not a regular. He only managed to take 5 wickets in the season, including 2 wickets in the finals. Mumbai Indians released him at the end of the season considering they spent 8 crores on the Australian quick, but could not get that kind of a performance from him.

With 40 wickets in IPL history, Nathan Coulter-Nile is definitely the kind of bowler that would make your bowling line up strong. RCB will strengthen their bowling line up with Coulter-Nile in their team.
