With the T20 World Cup on the horizon, all the cricketing nations are now charting out their schedule as per the needs of the team. In the next six months, most of the top-tier teams will be battling it out in the bilateral T20 series. Besides the cricketers will also be planning to exercise their T20 skills in the various leagues around the globe. However, the one-stop which will be common in the diary of every cricketer is the Indian Premier League.
The 13th edition of IPL will mark the beginning of a new era. With new regulations and the recent makeover of the squads, the fans are in for another exciting season. As far as players are concerned it will be a great opportunity for the youngsters and international stars to build their legacy in this iconic league. Unfortunately, it might also be the last chance for some of the stars to define their IPL careers as they have failed miserably in the last couple of editions.
Here is the list of 5 cricketers for whom a poor 2020 IPL will end their IPL career :
1. Glenn Maxwell
In cricket, there is a fine line between genius and insanity. While most of the cricketers prefer to be on either side of the line some of them have tried their luck by walking on that line. One such individual is Glenn Maxwell who has received equal amounts of praise and criticism in his decade long career. Whether it is for Australia or his franchise teams, Maxwell has often awed the cricketing community with his brilliant batting displays.
Such has been his aura that bowling attacks around the world spend hours in the team-meetings discussing his run-scoring patterns and vulnerabilities. Especially in T20 cricket where he is capable of changing the course of the game in a matter of overs. Even the IPL has witnessed his match-winning capabilities. He powered Kings XI Punjab to their maiden final in 2014 with more than 550 runs in the tournament.
Since then, Maxwell has always been a star in the league. However, his contributions have not been up to the mark as he is averaging 19.5 in his last 48 IPL ties spread across 4 seasons. Still, the Punjab team has paid a whopping amount of 10 crores for his services in IPL 2020. So, once again the Australian all-rounder has to repay the faith shown by the franchise. Otherwise, it might turn out to be his last stint in IPL as he has been living off his past deeds for too long.
